Public Awareness and Engagement

Focused on initiatives that relate to dementia from a public health perspective. Work includes partnering with organizations and agencies working on evidence-based health promotion activities, as well as looking at how different living environments impact people with dementia and their families.

Goals

-Increase public awareness about Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia by increasing access to resources for persons with dementia and their caregivers, including specific outreach to diverse populations disproportionately impacted by the disease.

-Educate all Oregonians about the importance of brain health and early detection and diagnosis of Alzheimer’s and other dementia.

-Promote healthy aging and brain health by participating in state-wide, evidence based campaigns for heart health, anti-smoking, substance abuse reduction, exercise, diet and chronic disease management to encourage Oregonians to manage and preserve cognitive health.
